A workshop on “gesture-controlled robotic arm ” was organized on 7th October 2021 2.30-4.30 PM and 14th October 2021 2.30-4.30 PM by IEEE RAS chapter under guidance of Chapter Advisor Dr Sharda Vashisth and Student coordinators Divyam Sachdeva and Ipshita Datta and Faculty Coordinators Dr Pankaj Rakheja and Dr Pooja Sabherwal. This workshop was the second event of the Robotics Continuum series. In this workshop, 45 students had participated. This workshop was held in room number 218 This workshop was divided into two modules Day 1: Students learned to assemble the mechanical model of the robotic arm and tested all the components. Day 2 : Students learned the feature of the transmitter and how it can control servo motors using Arduino Overall, all the students learned about the basics of robotics in this hands-on activity and helped them to gain interest in Arduino programming as well as functions of all the modules and sensors

It was a very informative quiz and participants had enjoyed this quiz based on Robotics, AI Ml. The host For this Quiz was Yogesh Yadav and Ipshita Datta.

A Robotics Quiz “Maestro de Robotics” was conducted on 16th and 17th August 2021. Round 1 was conducted on Quizizz where over 150 people had participated. The second round in which the top 10 had qualified for round 2 was conducted on Kahoot. It was a very informative quiz and participants had enjoyed this quiz based on Robotics, AI Ml. This Quiz was held in collaboration with IEEE RAS SNIT SB and IEEE NSSCE SB Tamil Nadu. The host For the Day 1 event was Ipshita Datta and the host of the second-day event was Yogesh Yadav.

A webinar on “Rethink Robotics” in collaboration with AI-Safwa College, Egypt was organized on 20th July 2021 at 5:00 pm by IEEE RAS chapter under guidance of Faculty coordinator Dr. Sharda Vashisth and Student coordinator Ipshita Datta. Mr. Florian Nadolny, graduated from University of Applied Sciences, Aschaffenburg. He had given a brief introduction about the company “Rethink Robotics Gmbh “and their product Swayer Robot. Jessica Reusing (Project Manager/Management) assistant at the company along with his sub-ordinate Mr Dennis Trap (Application Engineer/Formation as a Machine Technician) demonstrated the Swayer’s robot flexibility, user-friendly nature and demonstrated its basic functions (as per predefined program) like “Pick and place “,” Touch & Go” etc. Mr. Hannes Gruschiniski (Mechatronics Engineer and Innovation Manager) our third speaker spoke about AI & ML which combinedly produced the robot Swayer. ML is basically associated with the model part, while AI is associated the soul part of the robot. He also spoke about various applications where robotics is being used in large scope and the same were also demonstrated through various videos. Approx,80 students attended the webinar.

A workshop on “gesture-controlled robotic car” was organized on 25th March 2021 12-2.30 PM and 1st April 2021 12-2.30PM by IEEE RAS chapter under guidance of Chapter Advisor Dr Sharda Vashisth and Student coordinators Divyam Sachdeva and Ipshita Datta and Faculty Coordinators Dr Pankaj Rakheja and Dr Pooja Sabherwal. This workshop was the first event of the Robotics Continuum series. In this workshop, 45 students had participated. This workshop was held in rooms number 218 and 214. This workshop was divided into two modules Day 1 Students learned how to interface motors using Arduino and L293D and learnt about Arduino programming and assembling of the kits. Day 2 Students learned about transmitter and receiver how to interface using Arduino and connecting with motors. Overall, all the students learned about basics of robotics in this hands-on activity and helped them to gain interest in Arduino programming as well functions of all the modules and sensors

The speaker for the webinar, Paul J. Kostek, Advisory systems Engineer with Base 2 solutions, a consulting firm in Bellevue Washington. He works with companies in the aerospace, defense, medical device/healthcare, commercial space and ground transportation industries. Paul is experienced in requirements development/management, architecture, risk management, interface definition, verification, MBSE and project planning. He has been an Adjunct Faculty in the ECE Department at Seattle University serving as faculty advisor for senior project teams. He highlighted the achievements of emerging nations in space race. Approx 100 students joined the webinar.

Webinar on “Chandrayan-2”
A webinar on “Chandrayan-2” was organized on 10th February 2021 at 3:00 pm by IEEE RAS chapter under guidance of Chapter Advisor Dr Sharda Vashisth and Student coordinator Divyam Sachdeva. Mr. B N Ramakrishna, Deputy Director, Spacecraft Operations Area, ISTRAC, ISRO gave insights on Chandrayan -2. He graduated from institution of Electronics and Tele-communication Engineers, New Delhi and completed his post-graduation in Aerospace Engineering from Jain University, Bangalore. He has many papers in national and international journal to his credit. He has been recipient of many ISRO team awards for his several contributions. He is a member of national and international bodies that are presently working towards realization of good standards for sharing planetary data. The webinar was broadcasted at the national level in various schools and colleges and to the students who are interested in astronomical science. The webinar was also organized for an NGO, Prakash deep school, for 70 underprivileged children in Faridabad, Haryana. The enthusiasm they had regarding this webinar was remarkable. 290 students registered for the webinar and the final turn out was 150 students.

Ms. Palak Talwar, Senior Safety Engineer at Lyft, is NCU Alumni and has completed her masters in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from University of Michigan. She showcased a perfect example of a safety engineer. She focused on all the functions and requirements of self-driving cars. Her words and the way she explained really influenced and ignited many students to consider working on self-driving cars. All the aspects of a self-driving car were covered really well by the speaker. The webinar was successful in inspiring young minds to the right direction. 51 students registered for this webinar and final view turnout is 194.

Mr. Sulabh Kumra, Team lead and Roboticist at Osaro, Previously holding the position of Sr. Control Engineer at Tesla. He has a PhD in Robotics and is an alumnus of the Department of EECE. He showcased a perfect example of a roboticist. He focused on all the parts of a robot in detail and also gave a practical view by showing real life videos. His words and the way he explained really influenced and ignited many of us to consider doing something in this domain. He focused on the interesting factor of robots and discussed in detail about manufacturing of robots and how Robotics and Artificial Intelligence are changing the world together. All the listeners of the webinar were inspired by the experience shared by the speaker. The webinar was successful in inspiring young minds to the right direction. 112 students registered for this webinar and final view turnout is 229.

Breast Cancer awareness session
The speaker for the event, Ms. Neeti Leekha Chhabra who is not only a survivor but a Warrior against Breast cancer attuned the attendees with her experiences and knowledge. She began by introducing the topic and the need for educating everyone on breast awareness for females, breast cancer symptoms and initial steps to deal with it. She further encouraged women of all ages to perform breast self-exams at least once a month as 40% of diagnosed breast cancers are detected by women in later stages.

A webinar on “From Automatic to Autonomous: Defining Industrial Vehicle Capabilities” was organized in the IEEE Webinar Series: technologies that make a Difference on 16th May 2020 at 4:00 pm by IEEE RAS chapter under guidance of Faculty coordinator Dr. Sharda Vashisth and Student coordinator Divyam Sachdeva. Ms. Elena Messina, group leader of the Manipulation & Mobility Systems Group of the Intelligent Systems Division (ISD) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) was distinguished speaker of the webinar. She has over 150 publications and is editor of several books. She has received three Department of Commerce Bronze Medals for Superior Performance and Technical Leadership and the Edward Bennet Rosa Award for research and development leading to standardized test methods for emergency response robots. She talked about different types of robots used in the industries and how humans and robots can be useful to each other. This webinar had an audience 210 till date.
IEEE WIE Expressions
IEEE WIE chapter at The NorthCap University in collaboration with IEEE WIE AG Delhi Section fostered the creativity of the nation through IEEE WIE Expressions 2020. It was conducted from 20th April to 10th May 2020 and aimed to upend boredom and provide a platform to the people so that they get a chance to enhance their creativity amidst lockdown.

Prof. Amitava Sen Gupta, Retd. Acting director NPL was distinguished speaker of the webinar. He is an expert in the areas of Radio and Atmospheric Physics; Electronics; Atomic Physics; and Time and Frequency Standards. With over 35 years of research experience, his major contributions include design and development of India’s first and one of the world’s most accurate primary atomic clocks, known as the ‘Cesium Fountain’ and the development of the prototype of a space qualified Rubidium Clock for ISRO. He explained the basic concepts of GNSS and future scopes in research. The session was joined by Prof. A Q Ansari, Chairman at IEEE Delhi SAC. The webinar had a registration count of 90 people and the audience turned out was 70.

The IEEE Student Branch of The NorthCap University organized the maiden edition of Synergy on Monday, 2 March 2020. The guiding idea of Synergy was for the attendees to experience excellent networking opportunities and gain insights about how the Guests of Honour dealt with a multitude of situations at different stages of their life.
